Stapler Pressure

January 31st, 2008

As I was stapling random things I had printed out today, I realized that (at least with my current stapler) it takes a precise amount of force to perfectly bind a decent size stack of paper. If I don’t follow through, the staple does not go all the way through. If I lightly press down, the staple will bend, as it will when I slam it down as the poor staple cannot handle the extreme force. But, at just the right pressure, the staple drives all the way through and nicely bending the opposite ends to create a good bind.

Yes, I have been stapling a good bit of paper stacks and have been pulling bent staples out for a while. But I have my stapling pressure figured out so hopefully there will be no future bent staples. I bet a red stapler would not have this problem.

I would say buy an electric stapler, but that would ruin the excitement of your day.
